Brewing beer and where to buy ingredients locally?

Saturday Mar 6, 2010

I have never seen a homebrew shop anywhere in california. So I am not sure if they actually exist in the U.S. So where could I find ingredients to make beer locally?

So would like a Safeway or other grocer-market have stuff like this (by chance).
i dont want to order online.
Things needed I know : hops, yeast, barley, malt, etc.

Okay not online but Williams Brewing in the Bay Area has some real good stuff. If you are not finding a home brew store in CA then you are not looking. Cali has a lot of places to get your stuff.

Beer, Beer and More Beer (or B3) has a shop in Riverside and concord, I believe. There’s also some in SD. Which part of Cali are you looking? Just so a search in the phone book, or online.
You can also visit http://www.thebrewingnetwork.com They have a very interactive forum there. Someone there can point you in the right direction.
And, no. Safeway or other regular grocery stores will not carry what you are looking for.

Is it possible that any state has no home brew shops? I guess it is but not my state. Try the Beverage People in Santa Rosa. They have a great retail store and a good online business too.

Sheesh! You haven’t looked. Go to http://byo.com. Click on the Resources button. You will find a list of the nearest shops, with addresses, phone numbers, etc.
