Restaurants may have special discounts for the day, and each location of a fast food franchise might have its own promotions going on. But I do see prices come up on TV ads, so I guess they should have some indicators on their sites as well.
References :
Those are not the true reasons why. The main reason is that at trader Joes, not only do their prices vary from region to region and things come and go often, but their prices change on a daily basis. Literally.
As far as McDonald's and fast food restaurants go, they are just evil. Their business relies more on their customers lack of knowledge than anything. The less their customers know, the better off they are.
References :
I work for trader joes

They want you to impulse buy at fast food places! Grocery stores usually have ads with prices on their sale items, but I'm sure that's a strategy to reel you in to buy their non sale items. It would also be difficult to list every price on every single item every week.

They want you to come to them, not the other way around.

There used to be services I knew of at one time, several years ago, where you could order your groceries over the internet and they would be delivered same day by a truck. I don't know what happened to that kind of service, haven't seen those trucks, come to think of it, for several years now. Maybe they just weren't making enough money.

A head of lettuce today is not what it will cost tomorrow. Besides, they want you to come to their store and not do price comparisons over the internet - that is why you want to do it, isn't it? Price shop? LOL - they already have you figured out.
References :
I agree... But the reason is because then there would be no competition between stores. Its just a way for all the stores to confuse us and force us to spend more for small things without even knowing it. lol. Its an amazing marketing trick that was obviously well planned out! But maybe someday!!
