Grocery shopping poll?

Sunday Mar 14, 2010

Just a few questions about how you grocery shop…

How long does it take you (including driving)?
How often do you go (not including quick trips)?
How much do you spend per week on groceries?
Which stores have the best values?
Would you subscribe to a grocery delivery service?
How much would you pay for such a service?

When I do a big shopping trip (about once every 10 days), it takes me about 1 hour 45 minutes, including the 5 minute drive to the store and home.

I do a big shopping trip about once every 10 days. I go for a quick trip (milk bread, cold cuts) about every 3/4 days.

For my family of 4 (2 adults, 12 year old and 6 year old) I spend about $800-$1000 per month.

I do a lot of shopping at Super WalMart, except for meat and produce, which I buy at Stop&Shop

No, I considered using PeaPod a while back, but every single item was more expensive, plus there was like $8 in delivery fees. So not worth it to me.

No more than $10. Money is tight already and can’t afford some luxuries. Although there is a service in my area called Peapod. They deliver groceries for a low cost but require to shop at Giant and Giant is rather expensive. http://www.peapod.com

When I do the big, monthly shopping I go to three different stores. I know, but some have store specific coupons and better deals on things than the others. It takes me probably 4 hours to drive to all of them and do all the shopping. But I only do that once a month.

How often do you go (not including quick trips)?
I do a big shopping trip about once a month and smaller trips about once a week.

How much do you spend per week on groceries?
I would have to guess about $50-75 per week.

Which stores have the best values?
I go to Albertsons when they have the doubler coupons, Safeway when they have good deals, and Fred Meyer when they put good coupons in the paper. Usually, though, I shop at Walmart for regular groceries and Grocery Outlet for snacks for the kids.

Would you subscribe to a grocery delivery service?
    No.

How much would you pay for such a service?
Nothing beyond the cost of the groceries.
