Where in central Madrid is a good cheap place to buy groceries? Wine & liquor? Shampoo & other toiletries?

It depends on how long your staying… for a week or two… Lidl´s will be quite cheap
but if your staying for long you’ll need to visit a Hypermarket and buy in bulk – if you’re on a tight budget…. stores such as Eroski have their own brands –
Also you can learn how to say the product in every official language of Spain
this is what I like the most ^^,
For drinks… if you want to save… as little as 50cent then you should look around… some old people do shop in diffrent shops… one for bread one for drinks ect. to get the most value for money… but a small store such as Lidls will be o.k or a large Hypermarket… like Al Campo, Eroski… Carrefour…
Yes you can buy toiletries in the pharmacy, but it might be cheaper/quicker to visit the Hypermarket
Groceries, wine and liquor: a grocery store.
Shampoo and toiletries: A Farmacia…there are, like TWO on every block.
Seriously…not much difference from one to another…just go to one close to your lodging.

There are lots of little supermarkets everywhere. Just walk 10 minutes off the main street.
Also Madrid has a number of great municipal markets. e.g. Prosperidad. (Look at www. mercadosmunicipales.es)
Shampoo etc is not best bought at farmacias but at Drogerias / Perfumerias which sell everything except drugs.
I just bought some champu at Schlekers. They always have special offers on international brands.
