Would you pay for a grocery delivery service?

if so would you find a 5$ delivery charge plus a 10% charge fair? would you rather order your groceries online or over the phone? if the service was good would you continue to have your groceries delivered?
thank you all for your answers
and especially porterhouse while I had thought through most of the things you talked about I had not thought about "local and state food handler laws, insurance and bonding" and I’m definately going to have to look into these areas

Yeah, that would be cool to have someone go get my food for me =P

is there a website where u can order groceries online and get them delivered to your house?

Yes, many of the large chain type grocery stores have such a service. One such store is Stop and Shop. If you have a large chain store in your area give them a call and inquire if they offer such a service.

Does anyone know a reputable online asian grocer. I’m careful about using my credit card online.?

I’m looking for some of the very wierd, exotic stuff that I can’t find at my local asian food stores.(They are rather small stores.)

Here is one that goes through Amazon. Looks like it has a good reputation. Hope this helps.

Are their any Internet home shopping (grocery) services that deliver between 6am and 7am in West London?

I’ve tried Tesco and Asda but they don’t deliver that early.

Give Ocado a go (they do Waitrose food). They pride themselves on fitting into your life so perhaps they start earlier than the others.

99 cents store or discount grocery in the austin tx area?

I saw a story on 99 cents only in Los Angeles where they sell 1$ groceries. Including frozen and fresh vegetables. I also saw a story where a store bought groceries that were discontinued or marketed for a certain promotion or holiday and sold it at a discount. I am not sure where that store was. SO does anyone know of anywhere in the Austin texas area like that. We have dollar stores but I am looking for a grocery store. thanlks!

I am in Austin, and I have been looking for something like you are talking about, and I have had no luck. It seems that HEB just about has a monopoly on groceries now, and they have gotten to be very expensive compared to groceries in San Antonio and Houston. HEB somehow manages to run out competition.

We don’t even have a bakery surplus store here in Austin anymore as far as I know.

For some groceries, such as canned soup, pasta, cereal, etc, you might try Big Lots. I recently bought olive oil there for $3, normally $4.50 at regular grocery store. Pay attention to the prices, though. Not everything is a bargain – you can end up paying more at Big Lots than you would at a grocery store if the grocery store is having a sale.

Wal-Mart, by the way, seems to be much cheaper than HEB. A couple of recent comparisons that I did over the past two days:

El Milagro tortilla Chips $3.53 at HEB, $2.59 at WalMart
Banquet Frozen Meals $.99 at HEB, $.88 at WalMart
2-lb bag of carrots – $1.89 at HEB, $1.39 at WalMart
Navel Oranges $2/lb at HEB, $.54 each at WalMart (each weighs about 3/4 pound, so about $.80/lb.

Milk at Walgreen’s was $3.19/gallon. Still close to $4 at HEB.

Any tips on buying cheap groceries less than $120 per week?

Most weeks we don’t have enough food to last us for a week. I want to start doing a menu plan but don’t know any cheap recipes. We also got 1 dog which I feed her a roll and dog biscuits. 1 cat which I seem to spend more on him than us.

Clip coupons from the paper and buy generic whenever possible. Also, look for the "buy one, get one free" deals. That will save you in the long run. There are online coupons that you do and NEVER go grocery shopping hungry!

I know it’s difficult! I have a budget of $90 a month. Not week, MONTH.
